Colin Booth
Professor of Hydrogeology, Northern Illinois University, US
Colin specializes in mining hydrogeology: especially groundwater hydrology of underground coal mining and mine subsidence. His current research project involves modeling the effects of longwall mining on shallow aquifers. Colin is involved in the analysis of groundwater flow systems and their application to groundwater resource evaluation and protection and environmental siting problems: delineation of recharge and shallow aquifer systems in rural areas experiencing rapid urban development.
Larry McKay
Jones Professor of Hydrogeology, Department of Earth and Planetary Sciences, University of Tennessee, US
Birdsall-Dreiss Lecturer 2008. His research interests are diverse and include investigations of the hydrogeologic properties of fractured clay-rich residuum and till, contaminant fate and transport, and occurrence/ transport of pathogens and fecal indicators.
John B Ross
Senior Project Manager, Sydney Catchment Authority, Australia
John is Principal Hydrogeologist with Parsons Brinckerhoff - Sydney Office, and for the last four years has been with Sydney Catchment Authority to plan and manage their substantial Sydney Basin groundwater investigation and borefield development works program.
John has more than 35 years experience in regional groundwater investigations, water supply studies, groundwater allocation and policy studies here in NSW, and overseas in Malaysia and Indonesia. He has also worked on large industrial, mining, and water infrastructure projects, contaminated site investigations and remediation projects, and specialist research studies.
Jerzy Jankowski
Scientific Program Manager, Sydney Catchment Authority, Sydney, Australia
More than 30 years experience, working at various universities and government organisations in Australia and overseas including the University of New South Wales as an A/Professor of hydrogeology. His wide research interests include hydrogeochemistry, contaminant hydrogeology, surface water-groundwater interaction, dryland salinisation, fractured aquifer systems and lake hydrodynamics.
Current research includes assessment of longwall mining impacts on water resources in the Southern Coalfield of NSW.
